Resolution Together is a way of working that allows lawyers to work with and advise couples jointly, including providing appropriate legal advice, through a divorce or separation. To proceed in this way, both you and your partner must feel comfortable discussing all aspects of your separation openly with a jointly appointed solicitor. There should be no concerns regarding controlling or abusive behaviour, and no known conflicts of interest.
How we support you:
- We shall meet with each of you separately to assess whether this model is suitable.
- Provide you with impartial legal advice.
- Prepare the necessary legal documentation to formalise your decisions.
- By avoiding having to attend court.
- Help you identify and engage other professionals
Collective ResponsibilityÂ
Our experienced solicitors shall help you both work towards a settlement which you have crafted yourselves. We can introduce other experts when required, such as pension advisers or emotional support workers. We can then prepare the documentation required to record the outcomes achieved.
FAQs
What if my partner won’t agree?
Unfortunately in those circumstances, we cannot proceed with Resolution Together and may need to consider other options for you.
How long does it take?
This rather depends on you and your partner and whether you’re both committed to the process and deal with things promptly. We would suggest however that you should anticipate 4-6 months.
