Like most law firms we charge on a time basis, usually in standard increments of 6-minute units (or the 10 unit hour). At The Family Law Practice, we have a range of qualified and experienced solicitors, the hourly rate we charge will reflect the individual solicitor’s experience and specialism. We tend to invoice our client’s monthly and request prompt payment, occasionally we may request you to place us on account of funds, especially if there is work to be done or if we anticipate incurring charges from a third party, such as a barrister or expert. The amount that you ultimately pay in legal costs will largely depend upon how much you engage with us, what you want us to achieve for you and sometimes, whether there are court proceedings or not. We consider ourselves to be a fair firm. We aim to only charge you for work that is relevant and necessary. We shall always keep you informed as to the costs you have incurred and what additional costs you may expect to receive. We are always happy to discuss costs with you at any stage of our instruction.
